Before and Afters
Welcome to our smile gallery, where you can witness first-hand the results we have achieved for our patients…
Case Study: Mouth Habits
Thumb and digit sucking, tongue thrust and even professional wind instrument players can distort the position of their teeth. Here you see a young girl with a large open bite caused by persistent thumb sucking. Our approach to habit therapy is a combination of helping the person to help themselves break their habit as well as orthodontic appliances to reverse the distortion.
Encouragement and a system of daily feedback usually stops the habit quickly, sometimes overnight, and the appliance – often a fixed palatal expander – not only reverses the malocclusion (bad bite) but prevents relapse.

Case Studies: Facial Orthopaedics
If a growing person’s chin is back (for some reason it’s called a “weak chin”) we often introduce an appliance that holds the lower jaw forward for a time and we hope that future growth potential can be brought forward and utilised earlier (around 13) so as to give a better chin projection. Here are some cases that we have treated demonstrating that. The first one was written up for an Orthodontic Scientific Journal.
